Although Rosebud has a very strong reserve base that will support increasing levels of production for many years to come, we are always seeking to add to our holdings.

Our dedicated Land & Exploration personnel are involved in all aspects of the reserve development process including leasing and purchasing coal properties, test drilling prospective properties, and evaluating reserves for mineability.

Our primary method of data collection for reserve evaluation is core drilling. We operate two Atlas Copco CS-1000 surface coring drills year-round. These state-of-the-art drill rigs allow us to retrieve two inches of continuous core while minimizing surface disturbance. The innovative truck-mounted CS-1000 setup was designed to our specifications and featured in the October 2006 issue of Coal Age magazine.
